Kenosha Kid ~ Mondays in January at Flicker, Athens GA

Kenosha Kid
Monday January 4 "Dan's Birthday Partay"
Monday January 11
Monday January 18
Monday January 25
9pm to 12 midnight
at Flicker in
Athens, GA

Centered around the instru-improv jazz compositions of guitarist Dan Nettles, Kenosha Kid's music borrows freely from multiple sources and hammers it all into a seamless product glistening with inspiration. If you like jazz you might like this; if you hate jazz, you still might like this. Hot on the heels of releasing a new record and tours of the east coast and Europe, the group is packed with music and mischief. Featuring Neal Fountain on bass and Marlon Patton on drums alongside Nettles on guitar.

NOWT@NITE #10 - 2009 ends

In the most obvious of times for such a happening, NOWT@NITE returns with a Bleak Midwinter Pity Party... celebrate Brumalia, the Winter Solstice, some religious stuff, chase those trolls away, whatever...

You are encouraged to drink away your sorrows, beat the drum of frustration, say a prayer for summers long past... and to forget all that shit, cross the threshold, be the first-foot, and most importantly, open your ears to some great NEW music!

*Part One:

- New compositions by David Kant (www.myspace.com/davidkant)
- New compositions by Erik DeLuca (http://www.erikdeluca.com)

Performers will include Ted Gordon, Aaron Meicht, Wil Smith, Amanda Tabor, Erik DeLuca, and David Kant.

*Part Two:

- New collaborative work/solstice-celebration by Owen Stewart-Robertson and Peter Hanson.

NOWT@NITE #9 - Our Leather Anniversary!
Clarino; Pettersen/Jermyn; Reasons to Survive November

I don't know about you all, but I'm morbidly afraid of this eleventh (or ninth) month. Yunno, people say stuff like this:

"November like a train wreck –
as if a locomotive made of cold
had hurtled out of Canada
and crashed into a million trees,
flaming the leaves, setting the woods on fire.

The sky is a thick, cold gauze –
but there’s a soup special at the Waffle House downtown..."

Well... here's your freakin soup special:

Kenosha Kid to perform Fahrenheit, cut new record

TEAM ASSEMBLES IN ATHENS, GEORGIA
~ "Art" in eminent danger of being created ~

Kenosha Kid senselessly convenes to rehearse, perform, and record a new body of work titled "Fahrenheit".

Featuring a 9 person team of cutting edge-artists from around the nation, FAHRENHEIT weaves film, live music, and storytelling into a stunning multi-media event. Presented with a live band, video manipulation, and two narrators, the show explores several themes inspired by Ray Bradbury’s classic sci-fi novel Fahrenheit 451: freedom of speech, the all-consuming power of the media, technology versus nature, and the idea of an endless war.
